Michael Ettingshausen

Michael Ettingshausen

Michael has studied Martial Arts since 1984 and achieved 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate in1987. He graded to 5th Dan in 2009. He has been a member of the Australian team since 1992 & has represented Australia at 8 World Championships. He captained the Australian team in 2000, 2004, 2006. He lived & trained in Japan in 1994. Michael’s competition record in the Open Men’s division has spanned over 20 years. In this time he has been the NSW Mens Kumite champion 12 times and Australian National Champion 8 times. He & his wife Natalie opened Ettingshausen’s Dynamic Arts in 1995 and Michael has instructed karate full time since then. Michael has been a certified Free Style Group exercise instructor since 1996 and is a certified as a level 4 Personal Trainer. Michael has designed and instructed classes in Boxing fitness, Kick boxing, Tae Bo ( Micks Kicks), Stretching, Women’s self defence, Childrens fitness & Karate programmes in schools.

Deborah Tester

Deborah Tester

Deb has been a part of the EDA karate family and trained in shotokan karate since1994. She is currently a 3rd Dan Black Belt and has represented her club and state at numerous State and National Championships achieving placings including first on several occasions. Deb has also successfully represented Australia three(3) times placing, 6th in Womens Kata and 3rd in the Womens Team Kata, in the 2006 Shoto World Cup. Currently Deb is working as a certified Personal Trainer at Fitness First Miranda, training adults in health, nutrition and fitness. She also holds a current Senior First Aid Certificate. For two (2) years Deb gained invaluable teaching experience working with young children at a local pre school. This has helped her gain skills to build such a wonderful rapport with our more junior karate students. At EDA you’ll find Deb teaching beginner karate, beginner kata and colour belt classes.
