Research shows that it takes about 500 repetitions to make a technique automatic, but it takes 4 to 5 thousand repetitions to undo and correct bad habits in techniques.
So first learn the technique the right way and then practice very diligently to get the technique right. Otherwise you will spend countless hours just correcting your mistakes.
